Carbery's 100 Isles by Sea Kayak - What is an Island?

Описание к видео Carbery's 100 Isles by Sea Kayak - What is an Island?

This was a project I started in 2021 during Covid.

The term Carbery's Hundred Isles originated from a poem written in 1844 called The Sacking of Baltimore. The opening line is: "The summer sun is falling soft on Carbery's hundred isles..." and it goes on to tell the tale of how Algerian pirates raided the village of Baltimore and took slaves back to Algiers. There's a degree of poetic license in the poem because there are hardly "100 isles" in Roaringwater Bay and Long Island Bay...but I'm going along with that and I've created a list of 100 islands, islets, and rocks that I'm going to try to land on in the coming months.

The first ones I've landed on here are:
The Catalogues (main island) 51.49218, -9.41416
Argideen - 51.48046, -9.42276
Sherkin Island - 51.47826, -9.42033
