Sajjad's mother came to the house to see Parisa and Parastu. But Parisa was not interested in her presence. Sajjad's mother asked angrily:
"Why did you accuse Sajjad of stealing? Didn't Sajjad take the earrings?"

Parisa replied firmly:
"I didn't accuse him... he really stole."

Sajjad's mother begged her to forgive Sajjad and continue her life with him again. But Parisa proudly and firmly refused and kicked Sajjad's mother out of the house.

After he left, Parisa got to work. She built a platform in front of the house with blocks, poured cement around it, and filled it with dirt. A little later, she fed Parastu and held her in her arms. When night came, she turned on the electric motor, turned on the house light, and watered their small garden.

Parisa was tired, but her heart was at peace... She had learned to stand on her own two feet, even in the midst of hardship.
