MORTUM as a one person dark-ambient / death-industrial act was started in 1996 by recording a full length album that had never revealed to the public since. Therefore his activity got officially registered one year later during recording the second album of his main project, STONE WIRED. Over the following decades, and after several CDr and cassette releases by Exabyss Records since 2008, MORTUM has never separated the morose and bleak drone noise sounds from the cinematic ambiental tunes spiced up with plenty of field recordings. Thanks to his ongoing and indwelling obsession for DIY drone FX/synthesizer instruments, the signature sound of the project remained always hardware generated.

An exceptional occurence of dread is the very moment in existence when being alive looses its meaning as well as its purpose and falls into a doubtful pit of questioning even the mere nature of death. Nothing makes sense yet everything falls in its original order. Time and space, all physics and mathematical sciences fold into endless darkness. Light is no longer part of the equation.
There is no mater and there is no soul There is only void observed by the mind of our own existence. Hence the link between the finite and infinte beings. Recognising the active mind iminnently delivers us back into the pile of flesh and bone we call body. All is back once again in its material place, however the fear of not existing experienced a moment ago lurks around forever.
This dread remains the pain inflicting influencer on life until death separates us from flesh.
