I’m a big advocate for always using less. So I would first donate your old incandescent lights. Sure, there might be someone in need, but there are also a few organizations that repair, recycle, or repurpose old stringed lights. THEN, I would get you these super efficient LEDs, string them on your tree, and only have the lights on when you USE them!

C: Just like with regular lights?!

Exactly! The average house leaves their Tree lights on between 10-12 hours! If you aren’t in the room with the tree, don’t keep the light on. If you’re at work all day, don’t keep the light on. If you go to bed, turn the lights off. Only turn it on when you’ve come home and are enjoying your decorations. Better yet, keep the TV off and sit and enjoy your cocoa and read a book by the light of your Christmas Tree! While LEDs are more efficient, cheaper to use, and don’t overheat like incandescents, it’s still good to save energy whenever possible.

C: YES! Always save!

So with that I want to know for the questions of the day: what is your most memorable stringed light? I’ve seen some pretty crazy houses decked out, but my favorite is the Candy Cane Forest at Sea World San Antonio. They’ve got my favorite light display!
