Last weekend I emptied this case, untangled the hideous mess that five flying bus cables had made, and secured them to batons behind each horizontal row. Moved the psus and restocked the case with a similar but different set of modules. Spent several days fm-ing the crap out of the cases away to the left- then set this up and picked up a guitar…

This is a lot of fun to jam to, let me tell you. There’s also a fair bit of treatment applied to what is a simple, not particularly mangled sound from the Hertz Donut- run successively through Natural Gate, Data Bender, Mimeophon, and a reverb-into-phaser algorithm on the FX Aid. The drums are, in contrast, untouched. The resemblance to ‘Paranoid’ is acknowledged- though the chords here are D D C F G, and therefore ideal for cigar box guitar accompaniment. Oh, and the Data Bender- I quickly learned- responds well to a light touch and being clocked. As is also the case with the HD, less is more.
