LIVE: US, South Korean Forces Hold Joint Drills As Tensions Rise in the Korean Peninsula

The South Korean and US militaries have stepped up training exercises in response to North Korea's weapons testing, including ballistic missile launches and tactical weapons firing. On June 17, US Special Forces Command conducted a combined live-fire exercise with South Korean forces at a shooting range in Taebaek and mobilised an AC-130J Ghostrider aircraft. US and South Korean air forces also held air drills over South Korea. Tensions on the Korean Peninsula are at their highest point in years, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signing a new agreement that requires both countries to use all available means to provide immediate military assistance in the event of war.
