Today, January 22, Ukraine is marking Day of Ukrainian Unity. In Kyiv, activists arranged a flashmob and symbolically united eastern and western parts of Ukraine, according to Radio Liberty. The participants came to Paton Bridge and met in the middle of it which symbolized the unity of the left and the right banks of the Dnieper.

People put flowers to local monuments to Taras Shevchenko in the towns of the Donetsk region. Pavlo Zhebrivskiy, Chief of Donetsk military and civil administration, put flowers in Kramatorsk, Similar events were held in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiysk. Local authorities tojk part in the meetings.

The Day was celebrated in Slovyansk too. In the n morning, Vadym Lyakh, city mayor, put flowers to the monument of Taras Shevchenko. Then there was a meeting. Local officials, city residents, activists, and militaries participated in it. There was a patriotic march along the central streets.

In Slovyansk, test-systems to diagnose HIV were spoiled. They were intended for 5 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv, and their price was 3 million Hryvnyas. Volodymyr Stepanov, chief physician of the clinical hospital, said that the regional administration decided to make Slovyansk the place to store drugs for AIDS treatment and diagnosis for the whole region and, in fact, other regions too. The hospital does not have enough place for storage and transportation of the expensive drugs. That is why the systems were transported by an ordinary carrier. An investigation was started by law enforcers.

The project “Accommodation for IDPs” anoounced on June 2015 in Slovyansk within a EU program has not started yet. The program envisages refitting of two town halls of residence. The project should be completed on September 30, 2016. However, the construction has not started yet. The reason why was explained by Slovyansk mayor Vadym Lyakh.
