In this video, I show my process of throwing a large, wide bowl. I start by extruding a large log of clay and head over to the wheel with it. I slam it down onto the wheel and proceed to slap the clay into a cone shape, as well as roughly getting it centered before adding some water. I cone the clay up and down and center it. Then, I create a divot in the center to open the lump up. After it’s open, I collar the low, wide lump into a tall, even lump before stretching and pulling the walls into the final bowl shape. After it’s done, I wire the bowl off, pluck it off the wheel, and take it over to a ware board, where it will sit and dry until the next step.
