First milling on Norwood HD38 sawmill

Описание к видео First milling on Norwood HD38 sawmill

This is first milling on our Norwood HD38 sawmill. The mill came on 2 pallets with 100s of parts (some of course missing) and took a few months to assemble last spring. As it sits in the video it has one 4' extension (with 1 more that is not yet installed as it renders the trailer package useless) that gives it a capacity of ~16'. This is a bit of a sore point as the advertised capacity is 16' without the extension but they count the unusable 4' that the cutter head sits upon when loading a log and thus the actual capacity is only 12'. The log was a ~40' maple that had been on the ground for several years, cut by the original owner of our property. As you can see in the video it has some spalting and worm trails, but overall the wood was in much better condition that I expected. We cut 4/4 boards and used them to side our sugar shack, this single log that was cut into 2 lengths provided enough wood to completely side our building.
