Himachal Pradesh Cloudburst: 32 Missing, Widespread Destruction; Rescue Underway

Himachal Pradesh Cloudburst: As many as 32 people have been missing since Tuesday night after a cloudburst near a hydroelectric power project at Samej Khad in Shimla district’s Rampur area. The disaster, which struck the border region between Kullu and Shimla districts in Himachal Pradesh, caused extensive damage, including the destruction of a dozen structures and a government school building. The water level in the Beas River has surged due to heavy rains in the region. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced that teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, and local rescue units have been dispatched to the affected area. Kashyap, along with Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nishant Tomar, are also headed to the spot to oversee the rescue operations.
