0:00 Intro
I wanted to capture a colorful sunrise at this spot, sadly the sun didn’t light up the clouds on that day though. So I decided to add the warm colors using Photoshop. Besides changing the colors, I also wanted to get more details in the foreground and straighten the boardwalk in the center.

0:27 1. Basic Adjustments
I started with the lens corrections and changed the camera profile to Adobe Landscape for a more saturated image. For the warmer tones in simply increased the white balance temperature. To get back some more details from the clouds I dropped the highlights (there is still some overexposure left in the very bright part of the sky, but I decided to keep it for the cool effect).

1:47 2. Local Adjustments
Since the sky was still a little too bright, I added a graduated filter over the top part and dropped the exposure. For more structure in the clouds, I increased the clarity and the contrast. For the foreground I used a graduated filter as well. Here I decreased the temperature slightly to reduce the yellow-ish color cast, then added texture, clarity and a little exposure.

Finally, I wanted to add a glowing effect over the bright part in the sky by using a radial filter with increased blacks and decreased dehaze.

4:47 3. Color Grading
I slightly adjusted the purple and blue hue since the sky had a lot of purple tones in it. Then, for the saturation I boosted the orange and blue tones. To nicely add sunrise colors, I applied a warm tone to the highlights and mid-tones using the split toning.

6:18 4. Photoshop
I started by removing sensor spots, then added more glow with a soft-light layer and a low opacity brush. Using the perspective warp tool of Photoshop, I was able to straighten the board walk which got distorted because of the wide angle lens I used. Finally, using the nik collection plug in I added the polarization effect for stronger colors and the glamour glow for a soft, dreamy look.
