मंगोलिया (Mongolia) से भारत के रिश्ते यूं तो लगभग ढाई हज़ार साल पुराने हैं. लेकिन मंगोलिया का नाम लेते ही बहुत से लोगों के ज़हन में चंगेज़ ख़ान का नाम ही सबसे पहले आता है. भारत और भारतीयों के लिए वो एक हमलावर थे, लेकिन मंगोलिया के लिए एक महान शासक जिसने 13वीं सदी में मंगोल साम्राज्य की नींव डाली. इस साम्राज्य में मौजूदा चीन से लेकर मध्य एशिया, ईरान, इराक, तुर्की और यूरोप में पोलैंड की सीमा तक का इलाका समाया था. भारत में भी मंगोलों ने दस्तक दी थी.
Mongolia, a nation bordered by China and Russia, is known for vast, rugged expanses and nomadic culture. Its capital, Ulaanbaatar, centers around Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khan) Square, named for the notorious founder of the 13th- and 14th-century Mongol Empire. Also in Ulaanbaatar are the National Museum of Mongolia, displaying historic and ethnographic artifacts, and the restored 1830 Gandantegchinlen Monastery.
