Audio interview with TNA Wrestling staple Eric Young, who will be part of the company's biggest show of the year Slammiversary, which is July 20-21 at Verdun Auditorium in Montreal.
TNA Wrestling celebrates its 22nd anniversary with its 20th Slammiversary PPV.
Young has been part of 10 Slammiversaries, including the inaugural one in 2005 at the Impact Zone at Universal Studios in Orlando. He's been part of the past four Slammiversaries, including two main events. In the company's history he's main evented four times, including winning the TNA Wrestling world title in the main event of Sallmiversary 12 in 2014 in Dallas where he won a triple threat, steel cgae match over Austin Aries and Lashley.
Young, 44, debuted in 1998 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was trained in Canada by Waldo Von Erich, Carl Leduc, Chris Kanyon and Scott D'Amore. He made his TNA Impact Wrestling debut in 2004 as part of the heel faction Team Canada (Eric Young, Bobby Roode, Johnny Devine, Petey Williams), coached by D'Amore.
Young spent four years with WWE, mainly in NXT leading the villainous stable SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton, Killian Dain, Nikki Cross).
Away from the ring, Young hosted two shows on Animal Planet ("Off the Hook: Extreme Catches" and "No Limits").
Young currently co-hosts a hockey-centric, fantasy sports betting show "Dangle Bet Celly" with fantasy sports guru Chris Meaney.
Young, a longtime hockey fan from Florence, Ontario, Canada, played hockey as a youth but excelled in rugby. He was not good enough to play hockey on the school or minor league level, but he played league hockey and with his friends for many years. He continues to play hockey today in a men's league in Nashville, where he currently resides. He grew up a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and is now a Nashville Predators fan while still embracing his hometown team the Maple Leafs.
Hockey consumes his life. He watches it, discusses it, loves it.
He is very knowledgeable on the subject and also offers the human element to the game, where Meaney provides many analytics and insight.
The series offers NHL bets, picks and props, along with fantasy hockey advice.
Back to the ring, Young has won many titles, including TNA Impact Wrestling Champ (twice), TNA King of the Mountain, TNA X-Division Champ, NWA World Tag Team Champ (twice), WWE NXT Tag Team Champ and TNA/Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champ (four times). His hard-edged, raspy voice is well suited for this combat sport. He is such a good storyteller on mic and in the ring.
TNA Wrestling will be in Philadelphia on June 28-29 at the histroci 2300 Arena, formerly the ECW Arena.
