The Battle of the Thames (October 1813)

The Battle of the Thames (also known as the Battle of Moraviantown) was a decisive American victory that brought Michigan and the Old Northwest back under American control. Though the fighting would go on, there would be no more battles on the Detroit frontier. Although Shawnee chief Tecumseh wanted to fight at Fort Amherstburg, British General Proctor persuaded Tecumseh and 500 other First Nations warriors to retreat east to regroup. However, they were forced to make a stand in Moraviantown when the water became too shallow for their bateaux. [This video was originally produced in 2013]
