Hijos de inmigrantes provincianos, Los Mojarras es el grupo de rock urbano más emblemático de los 90’s. Liderados por Hernán Condori Montero (autor en letra y música de todo el repertorio), surgieron en el populoso distrito de “El Agustino”, rodeados de todos aquellos aspectos, limitaciones, carencias y peligros que circundan el anillo periférico de una ciudad que como Lima, se ha visto sobrepasada por una población emergente pero también, pujante y auto - gestionaria.
Las canciones de Los Mojarras reflejan la compleja adaptación de una juventud carente de oportunidades, aunque llena de sueños e ilusiones. Tal vez la canción más emblemática del grupo sea “Sarita Colonia”, la cual sirvió como tema principal de la película “Anda, corre y vuela”, pero también nos encontramos con los testimonios que desnudan la realidad de traficantes (“Babalua”), delincuencia (“Gente de Noche”), protesta (“Catalepsia”), entre otros.
Los Mojarras es mucho más que un grupo de rock urbano, es el vivo reflejo de una reacción musical que encadena las injusticias de una sociedad incapaz de aceptarse a sí misma, es el grito artístico y reactivo ante tanta indiferencia, es la fotografía musical de una cruda realidad, muy similar a todas las grandes urbes de Latinoamérica y el mundo.
