In this Drum.Dog sounds comparison, Nick and Ryan set out to answer a big question: What makes a bigger impact on drum sound, the drumheads or the shells?

To answer this question we conducted an experiment: Two sets of heads across 2 drum kits!
A cheap set of stock Mapex Tornado heads and a full set of Evans G2 heads, fitted to a Mapex Tornado and a Yamaha Stage Custom.

All heads will be matched as closely as possible on tuning to give a fair representation of which has a bigger impact in sound; the upgrade in drumhead quality, or the upgrade in shell quality!
