Shady Camp Barramundi Fishing Northern Territory Year 2 Episode 21

Shady Camp is in the Mary River National Park, booking must be made online for $10pp p/n there is a couple of drop toilets and fire pits available.
A new 2.3 million dollar ramp was built & completed in 2018 on the ocean side of the Mary river.
With multiple barrages separating the fresh water & ocean side only spilling into each other during high tide, this creates a feeding frenzy for the Barramundi as they sit in ambush waiting for the mullet to come over the barrage. This becomes the perfect opportunity for fishermen to throw a lure in hopes of landing a metre plus Barra!
The second Barrage seemed to be the hot place to fish, with multiple fishing charters bringing their fisherman here to fish. You will need a boat to get to the second Barrage as it is private property via road.
Boats were unable to launch at low tide during our stay, as a 2.5 metre tide is needed to launch into the ocean side of the Mary River from Shady Camp. You can launch into the fresh water side at any time via a different ramp.
Hot Tips - Zerek Live Shrimp White Plastic are currently the Barramundi favourite, but mostly any white plastic seemed to land a Barra.
Very strict fishing rules apply to Shady Camp including no nets or traps at all, no live bait and single hook only including lures 150 metres from the barrages are just a few.
The Rangers do regular checks on camping fees, National Park Passes & compliance with fishing rules so behave if coming here to fish.
