Varosha, a southern district of Famagusta, was once a vibrant and popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches and modern hotels. However, its history is marked by political and military events that led to its abandonment and subsequent transformation into a ghost town following the 1974 Turkish invasion. The town would remain sealed off to civilians for decades until its partial reopening in October 2020.
