A running gag in this series is that the class rep, Ayaka, constantly belittles the air-headed, butt-of-all-jokes pinkette, Makie, for having lack of drive and being pessimistic, ultimate declaring that she's "a failure at being Makie". Cruel, but funny, nonetheless.
