Well just over a day since the timetable change & complete change to services on the Midland Mainline route I decided to stop off at Kettering station for just over an hour to see what was going on. With the Leeds services now being withdraw leaving the Meridians & a select few of 180’s to do the intercity routes from St Pancras to Nottingham & Sheffield. The services between Corby & London are now under the “EMR Connect” brand. These services are now half hourly and are operated by ex. Greater Anglia class 360 EMU’s which are getting repainted into the EMR purple livery. The Corby services call at Kettering, Wellingborough, Bedford, Luton & Luton Airport Parkway on their way to/from London. Leaving the EMR intercity services to run non stop to Kettering or Leicester from St Pancras. Although an increase in seats, there’s many discouraged customers from the likes of Bedford & Wellingborough who are still paying “intercity” prices for a commuter service & now have no frequent direct trains to the Midlands & North. The 360’s are definitely a downgrade to the meridians if you ask me. What do you think about the new timetable & the 360’s? Leave me a comment.
