Exploring Newhailes House & Gardens, Musselburgh, Edinburgh | Christmas Market, Stables Cafe & Walks

Happy New Year everyone, I hope it's a good one for you all. Hope you enjoy this walk around Newhailes House & Gardens, which is located in Musselburgh, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. When I visited, close to the shortest day, there was a lovely Christmas Market and, although it got dark early, I still thoroughly enjoyed my walk in the extensive grounds. Newhailes House was built around 1686 and is a great example of a country-style Palladian Mansion. The house was home to the Dalrymple family for almost 300 years until it was taken over by the National Trust for Scotland. The estate extends to around 80 acres and has lots of great walks with good views over the Firth of Forth. There's a good car park (small fee) and entry is free. The Stables Cafe offers lots of tasty food and is the ideal place to grab a coffee n' cake and enjoy a leisurely walk around the grounds.
