It’s always an honor to support the next generation of musicians, and the Patuxent Jazz Band got just the chance in late April when they were invited to participate in the Howard County Public School System 2025 Jazz In The Woods festival. This afternoon of wildly shifting weather in the park featured Jazz Ensembles from four Middle Schools (including two directed by PJB members!) and three High Schools (two led by former CCB members!) before PJB took the stage for a set that bridged between the students and the world-renowned Navy Commodores. What an incredible experience!

The Patuxent Jazz Band is an ensemble formed as the Columbia Big Band in October 2015. Our repertoire covers genres such as traditional Big Band, Bebop, Fusion, Swing and Latin, among others. We are members of the community who enjoy performing for all audiences. Though some members play and teach music professionally, the members are volunteers employed in a wide variety of professions who share a love of music. PJB is one of several bands within the Columbia Bands non-profit organization. The Patuxent Jazz Band hopes to bring the enjoyment of jazz music to a wide audience. We look forward to seeing you at our concerts!
