Starting with build 1703, Windows 10 now supports full multiple partitions for any USB storage device (Creators Update). A user of Windows 10 can now access all partitions on a USB flash drive or SD card, as well as create multiple logical partitions on such media using the OS's built-in tools. Previously, when connecting a USB stick with multiple partitions (created on Linux or with third-party tools) to a Windows computer, the OS displayed only the first primary partition (all other partitions were ignored). In Windows, normal operation with multiple partitions was only available for fixed (non-removable/local) drives.

Windows 10 Creators Update (and later) displays all partitions available on a USB stick or SD card without regard for the RMB bit. The USB drive is still identified as a Removable device in this case.

How to Create Multiple Partitions on a USB Drive in Windows 10
Let's see if we can create multiple partitions on a USB stick in Windows 10. Assume a primary partition has already been created on the USB stick, occupying the entire volume of the USB media. We'll compress it and make the second (and subsequent) partitions as follows:


01. Connect the USB stick to the computer’s USB port.

02. Format the USB flash drive in the NTFS file system and then open the Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) console.

03. Right-click the partition on the USB stick and select Shrink Volume in the context menu.

04. Specify the size of free space after shrinking and click Shrink. For example, we want to partition the 4GB USB flash drive into two 1GB and 3 GB partitions.

05. Right-click on the unallocated disk area and select New Simple Volume to create an additional partition.

06. Select the drive letter, volume label, and file system type (I formatted the second partition in the FAT32 file system).

We have a USB stick with two partitions, as you can see. The first partition is called NTFS, and the second is called FAT32. Both partitions are visible and accessible in Windows.
