As the footage shows, this was recorded on PS3. I played this on real Hardware, but wish I had Emulated it instead (although technically the PS3 is also imperfect emulation). The trade-off for not being able to do one of the core sidequests (Lottery) and in the next two games having game annoying/breaking bugs does not outweigh the minor graphical and sound glitches.
Thankfully, the two sequels I decided to Emulate instead.

This is a sequel to Koudelka, and whilst not directly following from it, we will see the links in the story at various points. I go for all Sidequests, Ultimate Weapons e.t.c, but as I can't do the lottery it locks me out of one Ultimate Weapon, and I think completion of one Sidequest.
The introduction sets the scene with a traveling Priest committing murders and then we're aboard a train in NE China (Manchu).
The Gentlemanly priest is aboard and some of the soldiers are tasked with protecting a girl. The Priest slowly makes his way through the train, murdering them and revealing himself to the girl to be Roger Bacon.
A man then turns up and crushes the demons before reattaching his arm and being flung back. He is the playable character known as "Rude Hero" for now.

The cutscene is out of sync, but as soon as it cuts to the game it's fine.
I go through the various menus to learn the game and try to read up on the Judgement System and other mechanics (I've left a timestamp for when I've finished reading). The Judgement System is the way the combat differs to a standard jRPG and works as an early QTE system of sorts, but one you can predict and actually get good at through use (much like Lost Odyssey).

On the second screen I have a few battles, the enemies here will fall to the first hit, so you can try and go for the thinner wedge to get used to the Judgement System.

Examine the two bodies on the next screen for items then on the next screen examine the mess and you'll see Roger Bacon taking the girl on top of the train.
Do as you please in the battle, trying the Fusion may be a good idea. After a few turns he uses Revelation to end it.
Magic appears from the girl's body and the Rude Hero (temporarily) injures Roger Bacon and flees with the girl as more credits roll.


You're on the world map, still in North China. Select Plains from the World Map.
You'll be here with the Girl in Danger and our Hero tries to hit on her... Unsuccessfully.
She runs away so we attempt to chase her but a voice stops us that wants us to protect her.
Head to the NW in the new area and talk to the girl, they'll exchange names and now you have both Yuri and Alice for battle.
Alice has annoyingly low stamina points (something that takes me a while to understand), and low physical stats. She's the White mage of the group. Get her a couple of levels then on the next screen there's a puzzle and a save point you can use a Tent at.
After a few attempts I get the judgement ring right for the puzzle in the NW then hit the NE sluice gate and back to the Save Poimt. Yuri's dad, Fox Face shows up and obliterates us after a few turns and we're at a Graveyard.

Head to the glowing Glyph and beat the Earth Elemental creature to unlock the Raging Tiger, the T1 Earth Fusion. The other Elemental Graves are barren for now, and to the W you'll see 4 masks that look like they're from the Wrath of Cortex. The Sword/Shield/Gold/Grail masks. They hint at your purpose, and will be key for deciding which ending you get later (I'll show both, as I did for Koudelka).
You'll then fight your Malice, which accumulates as you defeat enemies, and it acts as a valve that will need releasing. It's another thing the sequels handle better, so if you can wrap your head around it here, you'll enjoy the sequels even more.

Fight more wolves/bats and head West to a village. Nab the treasure and speak to the odd children and then the NPCs in the village before saving, ready for the next part.
