Today we are composting with chickens using a double chicken run. It's time for another homestead hacks episode. This time we talk about the double chicken run compost system. Though it takes a bit of planning if you have permanent chicken runs if you can divide them in half you can turn any permanent setup into a compost system. This not only helps feed the chickens and gives them something to do, but if you have organic wastes such as animal bedding etc. it is a great way to work it into a good garden compost in a fairly short time. And the nice part is this is not an exact science since the chickens do most of the work turning the compost. It is also a great solution to hard pan or hard pack in a permanent chicken run.
