LIVE: Brazil Plane Crash Claims All 10 Lives Onboard, Several Injured on the Ground

A small plane crashed into shops in Gramado, southern Brazil, on December 22, killing all 10 people aboard. The aircraft, a twin-engine Piper PA-42-1000, was owned and piloted by Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, who died with nine family members. Seventeen people on the ground were injured, with 12 still in hospital, including two in critical condition. The plane crashed into a building’s chimney, then a house, before hitting a furniture store. The crash occurred in bad weather shortly after takeoff from Canela airport. Investigations into the cause are underway. Gramado is a popular tourist destination, especially during Christmas.
