Eddie Mabo remembered as the father of Native Title on Mabo Day anniversary | SBS News

On 3 June 1992, the High Court in Australia handed down its historic Native Title judgement also known as the Mabo ruling. The case was led by Eddie Koiki Mabo, a Torres Strait Islander man who refused to accept that his home, which had been handed down through his family for 15 generations, belonged to the crown.
