In today’s English speaking practice lesson you will learn how to use the word HAD in 5 different ways in English conversation. HAD is used to describe a past action. An action that occurred in the past. The past perfect tense is used when two events happened in the past, with one past action having occurred even before the other past action. To form the past perfect, use had and the past participle of a verb in one part of the sentence. Often, the regular past tense is used in the other part of the sentence. Had is used to tell that you ate something in the past.
