How to do a Burnt Wood Finish on solid Ash

This video shows you how to achieve a really lovely burnt wood finish in detail using the Shou-Sugi-Ban technique.

I cover how to burn the wood deeply enough and how to burn crisp straight lines using aluminium as well as different techniques for removing the soot from wood.

Finally, I show you how to apply extra thin wax oil to the burnt surface to really lock-in the colour and texture.

I absolutely love doing this and the effect is truly stunning. You can use this technique on almost any wood of any size and the wood is naturally protected from moisture once it's burned.

All you need to have a go is a decent heat source so why not have a go yourself and I hope you enjoy the video!
