There has been a quiet rise of “poser professionalism” in art, music, video, and marketing—where beginners, tinkerers, and outright fakers present themselves as experts expecting to be paid like professionals simply because the platforms allow it. When everyone can create, does everything deserve the same respect or pay for that effort? Where is the line between inspiring artist and professional? And why does pointing this out trigger such disproportionate outrage? This isn’t gatekeeping—it’s a defense of standards, struggle, and earned competence in a culture that increasingly confuses visibility with value.

I’m not attacking real artists or people learning their craft. I’m calling out the industrialized self-delusion that turns spam into “art,” engagement into credibility, which directly transitions into someone making money as a professional when they are really a con-artist.
