מִזְמוֹר שִׁיר לְיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת
(Mizmor shir l’yom haShabbat)
(A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.)

טוֹב לְהֹדוֹת לַאֲדֹנָי וּלְזַמֵּר לְשִׁמְךָ עֶלְיוֹן.
Tov l’hodot la’Adonai, u’lzamer l’shimkha Elyon.
It is good to give thanks to אֲדֹנָי, to sing praises to your name, Elyon.

לְהַגִּיד בַּבֹּקֶר חַסְדֶּךָ וֶאֱמוּנָתְךָ בַּלֵּילוֹת.
L’hagid ba’boker chasdecha ve’emunatecha ba’leilot.
To proclaim your loving kindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night.

עֲלֵי־עָשׂוֹר וַעֲלֵי־נָבֶל עֲלֵי־הִגָּיוֹן בְּכִנּוֹר.
Alei asor va’alei nevel, alei higayon b’kinor.
With the ten-stringed lute, with the harp, and with the melody of the lyre.

כִּי שִׂמַּחְתַּנִי אֲדֹנָי בְּפָעֳלֶךָ בְּמַעֲשֵׂי יָדֶיךָ אֲרַנֵּן.
Ki simachtani Adonai b’fa’alecha, b’ma’asei yadecha aranen.
For you, אֲדֹנָי, have made me glad through your work. I will triumph in the works of your hands.

מַה־גָּדְלוּ מַעֲשֶׂיךָ אֲדֹנָי מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶיךָ.
Mah gadlu ma’asekha Adonai, m’od amku machshevoteikha.
How great are your works, אֲדֹנָי! Your thoughts are very deep.

אִישׁ בַּעַר לֹא יֵדָע וּכְסִיל לֹא יָבִין אֶת־זֹאת.
Ish ba’ar lo yeda, u’kesil lo yavin et zot.
A senseless man doesn’t know, neither does a fool understand this:

בִּפְרֹחַ רְשָׁעִים כְּמוֹ־עֵשֶׂב וַיָּצִיצוּ כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן לְהִשָּׁמְדָם עֲדֵי־עַד.
Bifroach resha’im k’mo esev, va’yatzitzu kol po’alei aven l’hishamdam adei ad.
When the wicked spring up like grass, and all the evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.

וְאַתָּה מָרוֹם לְעוֹלָם אֲדֹנָי.
V’ata marom l’olam Adonai.
But you, אֲדֹנָי, are on high forevermore.

כִּי־הִנֵּה אוֹיְבֶיךָ אֲדֹנָי כִּי־הִנֵּה אוֹיְבֶיךָ יֹאבֵדוּ יִתְפָּרְדוּ כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן.
Ki hineh oyeveikha Adonai, ki hineh oyeveikha yovedu, yitpardu kol po’alei aven.
For, behold, your enemies, אֲדֹנָי, for, behold, your enemies shall perish. All the evildoers will be scattered.

וַתָּרֶם כִּרְאֵים קַרְנִי בַּלֹּתִי בְּשֶׁמֶן רַעֲנָן.
Va’tarem kire’im karni baloti b’shemen ra’anan.
But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox. I am anointed with fresh oil.

וַתַּבֵּט עֵינִי בְּשׁוּרָי בַּקָּמִים עָלַי מְרֵעִים תִּשְׁמַעְנָה אָזְנָי.
Va’tabet eini b’shurai, ba’kamim alai mere’im tishmana oznai.
My eye has also seen my enemies. My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.

צַדִּיק כַּתָּמָר יִפְרָח כְּאֶרֶז בַּלְּבָנוֹן יִשְׂגֶּה.
Tzaddik ka’tamar yifrach, k’erez ba’Levanon yisge.
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

שְׁתוּלִים בְּבֵית אֲדֹנָי בְּחַצְרוֹת אֱלֹהֵינוּ יַפְרִיחוּ.
Shetulim b’veit Adonai, b’chatzrot Eloheinu yafrichu.
They are planted in the house of אֲדֹנָי. They will flourish in our God’s courts.

עוֹד יְנוּבוּן בְּשֵׂיבָה דְּשֵׁנִים וְרַעֲנַנִּים יִהְיוּ.
Od y’nuvun b’seivah, d’sheinim v’ra’ananim yihyu.
They will still produce fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green,

לְהַגִּיד כִּי־יָשָׁר אֲדֹנָי צוּרִי וְלֹא־עַוְלָתָה בּוֹ.
L’hagid ki yashar Adonai, tzuri v’lo avlata bo.
To show that אֲדֹנָי is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
