Wolfgang Köhler, a prominent Gestalt psychologist, conducted famous experiments on chimpanzees to show that learning does not always occur through trial and error. Instead, sometimes learning happens suddenly, through understanding the whole problem — this is called Insight Learning.
1. What is Insight Learning?

Insight learning is a type of learning in which a problem is solved suddenly after understanding its structure, rather than by repeated trial and error.

Several boxes were kept on the ground.

After some random attempts, the chimpanzee stopped, looked at the situation, and stacked the boxes one on top of another to climb and get the banana.
