Upgrading this system to 16 GB RAM gave a nice performance boost compared to the 8 GB in single-channel. It also made some titles run that didn't launch before.

Hello everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. Today we're revisiting an old friend. A system that I previously tested in November 2020. This benchmark video has somehow blown up and created more than 200000 views since then. And here, I'd like to say, thank you very much, for your long-term support and the huge amount of traffic that you've created for this video.
But what system am I talking about? It's the HP model 14 with its Intel Core i3 10110 U and Intel UHD graphics. I recently upgraded this system from its 8 GB single channel ram to 16 GB dual channel ram, which not only gave an increase in terms of performance overall, it also made some titles possible running that haven't been able to run before. Warzone is one of those examples. With 8GB of RAM, it crashed before even launching the game. Now it's, of course, still unplayable, but launching properly. Other titles like GTA V, for example, got a huge FPS increase. With 8 GB of RAM, I only managed to average 21 FPS. With 16 GB of RAM, I managed to average 32 FPS. That's really a huge increase in performance. All titles that I've tested received a performance increase from around 10 up to 60%. So I can only recommend you to use at least dual-channel RAM in your system, and for the year 2022, it would also be good to run at least 16GB of RAM in total. In particular, integrated graphics benefit a lot from dual-channel memory.
So did this RAM upgrade make the i3 10110 U and its integrated UHD graphics a powerhouse? No, obviously not. The i3 is by no means a bad CPU. But to be honest, it was never designed to run any modern games. Of course, it's nice to see that only 3 of my 21 tested games have been entirely unplayable, but some problems of the i3 regarding gaming persist. Probably the biggest problem with the i3 10110 U is its 15-watt TDP limit. It has barely been able to keep up with a high clock rate in games. In fact, it's often clocking down to less than 2 GHz, which simply sucks. When this happens, the CPU becomes a bottleneck. And this is just a bad experience because we're already on a low-end GPU. But the limited CPU is even hindering the Intel UHD Graphics. I think spending the i3 10110U 20 watts would've made the experience in heavy scenarios, like gaming really is, way better. The 15 watts limit also kicks in when you're using this system for other demanding applications, like video rendering, for example.
So all in all, I can only give you two tips.
Number one: If you're already using this system, or you're planning to buy one, upgrade your ram to 16GB or at least an additional stick of 4GB to get the benefit of dual-channel.
Number two: Search for better alternatives for the same price. This system costs around $400 in my country. There are way better options if you intend to play games. On eBay, for example, you can already find some used but still in good condition devices with a GTX 1050 Ti.
That's it for my voiceover. I hope you're going to like this video like you did the previous video of the i3 10110 U. If you do, feel free to leave a like and subscribe to this channel. Support is highly appreciated. I hope to see you all in the next video. Stay safe and have a great day. Goodbye.
