Shapes of the plots or in built up houses, shapes of the buildings as per Vastu are very crucial because if the Vastu Plots shall be positive Vastu plots or the building shall be positive then there shall be positive vibes.... otherwise not. All types of buildings on square or rectangular plot are considered to be positive as per Vastu. Triangular shaped are defined ‘negative’ in nature, hence triangular plot should not be selected for constructing a building especially for residence. All other geometrical shapes like pentagonal, hexagonal, parallelogram etc. can also be considered as a last option. The Trapezoid or trapezium shaped plots can be taken for business purposes provided the broad side is in front. If the trapezoid shape plot is available for residence, it should be narrow in the front and broader in the back side. Such shape is called the “Gau-mukha” or “Cow-shaped”’ but it is not advised to go for such plot only because normally square or rectangular shaped plots are appreciated on first hand; even better than “Gau-mukha” plots. Inauspicious shapes: All irregular and uneven shaped plots such as cut or extended corners are told inauspicious in Vastu science.
In case of decreased or increased front or back side, those plots with more front and rear narrow are called “Lion-Face-Plots” or ”Singh Mukha Plot” or “Sher Mukha Plot” or “Nag Fani Plot”. Such plots are known to be auspicious for business purposes only, not good for residence purpose whereas a plot with decreased front and rear more are called the “cow-faced-plot” “Gau Mukha Plot”. Such plots are auspicious for residence, not for business. The great precaution should be taken while deciding to buy, work-on or construct a Gau Mukha or Sher Mukha plot that always the north-east corner or direction should not be decreased. However, any extension of plot in north-east shall be very auspicious for residence and business both. Here, I would like to clarify that the extension or projection of plot is auspicious as per Vastu whereas construction of any extended room in north-east shall be strongly negative situation. Hence, never extend the building in north-east, rather, use this area as porch, open lobby, foyer, informal sitting etc.

Any sandwiched plot i.e. low, small or narrow plot in between two big plots is not good according to Vastu tenet. Similarly, any sandwiched building i.e. low, small or narrow building in between two or more high buildings is also not good.
Building should be constructed such that it is higher and heavier in the south, west and south-west and lower in the east, north and north-east. Terrace and boundary walls should also be made in the similar way.
