The U.S. Military Revealed Crazy Demand On a Custom Starship After Flight 6!
Biggest and most powerful.
These words don’t just describe Starship’s unmatched size and performance—they now reflect its growing significance in the space industry and beyond. The interest in Starship is enormous, and Flight 6 made that clear.
Recently, this groundbreaking mission captured the direct attention of several key U.S. agencies, most notably the U.S. Space Force. Their interest highlights the rocket’s potential role in advancing national defense and space exploration capabilities in the near future.
But let’s not forget—this is the same agency that once considered plans to completely take over Starship, recognizing its transformative potential for military applications.
So, what sparked the Space Force’s renewed interest in Flight 6? Do they still aim to bring Starship under their control? And how might SpaceX respond to such ambitions?
Let’s dive deeper into these questions in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.

Starship is undeniably making the aerospace industry more thrilling this year, particularly with the momentum gained in the latter part of the year. The recent success of Flights 5 and 6, completed just 37 days apart, has captured the attention of industry leaders, governments, and enthusiasts alike. As Starship's launch frequency increases, so does global interest in its groundbreaking capabilities.
Among the attendees of the recent Flight 6 launch was a host of high-profile figures, including President-elect Donald Trump. However, another key presence at the event was General Chance Saltzman, the Chief of Space Operations for the U.S. Space Force (USSF). Invited by SpaceX, General Saltzman toured Starbase, participated in program reviews during the launch week, and personally observed the Flight 6 launch on November 19.

His attendance underscores the U.S. military's growing interest in Starship’s potential. While no formal announcements have been made, General Saltzman’s presence signals the likelihood of Starship playing a pivotal role in future military operations. A U.S. Space Force spokesperson later confirmed this growing interest, stating:
“The Department of the Air Force and the U.S. Space Force are monitoring Starship's progress and looking forward to potentially leveraging its capabilities in the future.”
Starship is uniquely positioned to revolutionize space and defense capabilities. Standing 121 meters tall and 9 meters in diameter, the rocket boasts a lift-off thrust of more than 7,000 tons—double that of the Saturn V. Its payload capacity of 50-150 tons already outclasses other rockets, but future iterations, such as the V2 and V3 models, will push these limits even further. The V3 version, projected to stand 150 meters tall with over 10,000 tons of thrust, will enable payloads exceeding 200 tons. Beyond cargo, Starship is envisioned to transport up to 100 passengers—a feat no other rocket system has even dared to consider.
