Evergreen Timber Frame

This is a timber frame house I built last year to experiment with "what does it mean to have a home?" It's an exploration of green home design, environmental theology, and good old-fashioned woodworking.

I'm also working on a book on the Christian doctrine of the incarnation and modern humanity's relationship to the material world. I'm interested in what it means to "abide" with Jesus in John's gospel, and why first the tabernacle and then Jesus himself are the "home" or "dwelling place of God." Early Christianity took shape around arguments with various Gnostic groups about the goodness of ordinary bodies and ordinary material things. Also I think we humans are slowly killing ourselves under mountains of plastic crap we store in heaps around ourselves. So this project was a fun way to look at the intersections of all those issues.
