मीरा रोड और भयंदर इलाके में आज भी अंग्रेजों का बनाया एक कानून चलता है । आज भी इस इलाके में रहने वाले लोगों को अगर कोई जमीन खरीदनी होती है, किसी प्लॉट पर घर बनाना होता है, या किसी पुरानी इमारत की जगह Reconstruction करवाना होता है तो उन्हें इसके लिए The एस्टेट Investment Company नाम की कंपनी को लगान चुकाना होता है । और लगान भी कोई छोटा मोटा नहीं. डेढ़ सौ रुपये Square Feet से लेकर पांच सौ रुपये Square Feet के हिसाब से ये जबरन वसूली की जाती है.
