Riding an 'Iron Horse Ramble' with Reading & Northern

On May 25th, 2024, Reading & Northern T-1 4-8-4 #2102 pulled the first 'Iron Horse Rambles' excursion of the year. The train ran the familiar route from Reading to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania and return with a passenger stop at Port Clinton both ways. Come along for the ride aboard what is easily one of the best steam train excursions found anywhere in the U.S.

In Part 1, we begin at Reading Outer Station and watch as the 2102 arrives and couples onto the train. We then drive north to Port Clinton, where we climb aboard. We'll ride all the way to Jim Thorpe, taking in the beautiful sights and mountain scenery along the way. There is plenty of stack talk from the 2102, and this video features an uninterrupted segment on the uphill climb between Tamaqua Tunnel and Haucks. Upon arrival in Jim Thorpe, we'll take a quick look around town, and conclude the video with a look a look at some of the rail action around the station and in the yard.
