In many cases, the higher bitrate upload exhibits much better detail and more accurate colors. Where certain parts of the image appear as "blobs" in the lower bitrate upload, the higher bitrate upload is much more defined. This is not always the case, as sometimes the difference can be more subtle, but giving YouTube's encoders more data to work with definitely results in better image quality. This will be nice to have in the usual performance videos, but it will be especially useful in visual comparison videos.

This video compares ProRes HQ (1700 Mbps) captures on an Atomos Ninja uploaded to YouTube as H265 at 750 Mbps vs my previous work flow, which entailed using OBS to capture H265 at 100 Mbps and then uploading to YouTube in H265 at 100 Mbps, which is a fairly common creator workflow. In both cases, the bitrate is higher than the bitrate YouTube recommends for 4K.

The comparison screenshots are taken from the uploaded videos and every video is manually set to 4K.

Why did I use only screenshots and not video? Because recording a screen capture of each uploaded video and then encoding it and uploading it again would just result in further compression and would not give you an idea of the true image quality of each clip. Still shots are a lot less prone to compression artifacts. I tried editing/exporting the original clips side-by-side and uploading, but that seems to compress both sides equally and it does not provide the same quality as uploading each clip separately.
