Wood Bases for Mosaic Boxes, Bowls, and Pique Assiette Mirrors, Mosaic Wall Hangings & Jewelry

Different wood bases require different treatment for mosaic. Regular wood picture frames and bowls need to be sealed with a mixture of one part wood glue to three parts water. MDF wood does not need to be sealed. I get my MDF wood bases for my mosaic mirrors at Home Depot, where they cut the pieces to the sizes that I want, so that I don’t have to do any measuring and sawing. My bowls come from the Hofcraft Art Supply Company, I like these because they have a nice wide rim at the top. They come in different sizes and qualities, I generally like the six inch, second-grade quality bowls. In the later videos, I will be showing exactly how to create mosaics from these bases.
