The political crisis rocking Rivers state took another dimension as the lawmakers loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara elected Victor Oko Jumbo as the new Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The emergence of Victor Oko Jumbo came just 48 hours after Governor FUBARA declared that the 27 members who defected from the PDP to the APC in 2023 were no longer recognized as legislators.

In his acceptance speech, the new speaker, who represents Bonny constituency
said his emergence was in line with Section 92(1) of the 1999 Constitution of as Amended.
