STORYLINE:
Hindus in Hong Kong gathered to celebrate Diwali together Monday in the city's biggest Hindu temple, which spans over 70 years of history.
There are around 15,000 Hindu in Hong Kong, according to the Hindu Association of Hong Kong, patron of the temple.
It's the second year celebrating Diwali away from home for New Delhi-born Aditya Aggarwal, who is currently studying computer science in a university in Hong Kong.
"With all my friends over here, and all my people over here, it seems like a family away from my family," he said.
Daven Patel, who works in finance and has been living in Hong Kong for more then 10 years, brought his wife and six-month old son, who is celebrating Diwali for the first time.
"We thought that we'd bring him to the temple as something new," he said. "So he can learn a little more about our culture, hear the music, and hear the words of the priest."
Millions of people across Asia are celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights that symbolizes a victory of light over darkness.
It is a national holiday across India ,and is typically celebrated by socializing and exchanging gifts with family and friends.
Many light earthen oil lamps or candles, and fireworks are set off as part of the celebrations.
In the evening, a special prayer is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, who is believed to bring luck and prosperity.
