I've learned the hard way that a broody hen needs serious privacy from the rest of the flock, so I set up an isolation cage. I also built a clever little chicken feeder and water station that's perfect for both the mother and the future chicks. Then came the tricky part: preparing a super cozy nest with 11 fertile eggs and convincing Blackie it was her new home! After a few tries, she finally settled down, and now the 21-day countdown to hatching chicks begins.
