T SESSIONS 122 - DR CHEKILL
-
We are happy to welcome on our podcast series a great DJ and producer from Spain this week, Dr Chekill. Instrumental in bringing the Techno sound to Seville, he is considered a pioneer because of this in native city. After releasing a collaboration track with Maxx Rossi on our label recently, he delivered for us a great set, full of his past and upcoming productions. If you like his set as much as we did, please show your support with likes, comments, and shares on our Soundcloud and Mixcloud pages.

Dr Chekill, or Checo, as he is known in his native Seville, was one of the city typical guys hanging around in the streets in the 90’s. He had no hobbies, and he was just listening to music and go out in town. Then, he met Christian Busutil, who took him to electronic music parties. Since those days, he started to be involved in Psychedelic Trance music and started to DJ a little later in the early 2000’s.
-
A little bit later, he heard Techno music for the first time, and he started to produce his own tracks around 2004. It wasn’t good tracks at the beginning of course, but his persistence gave him success when in the beginning of 2007 he released his first vinyl on the well-known UK label Glitch Recordings, run by Alex Calver, plus a second one on Working Vinyl, run of Andreas Kremer.
-
Since then he had over 60 releases around the World, both on vinyl and digital. After releasing Schranz music for few years, with which he received international support and respect, he went back to his techno roots in 2012, producing different styles of techno, like Acid Techno, Jacking, Hardgroove, and Tribal Techno, sometimes with a touch of Trance inside.
In 2012, after ending Heat Treatment Recordings, his old Schranz label, which he run since 2009. He started a new label, called 6 Years In Shorts, which will see soon the 13th release. 6 Years In Shorts has released artists like Chris Liberator, Sterling Moss, and Ganez The Terrible over the years.
-
After a break of almost one year, he is back and started to release new music on labels like Apex Recordings, run by D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Global Techno Movement, Ushuaia Music, Dune, and T Sessions. Also in the pipeline, there is a new vinyl release in collaboration with friend Maxx Rossi from London.

As a DJ, Dr Chekill sets move between 133 and 150 Bpm, and he only plays his own productions in his sets.
