Yajnopavita (Sacred Thread): The initiate is given a sacred thread made of three strands, symbolizing various aspects of Hindu philosophy, such as the three Gunas (qualities) and the three Vedas (knowledge). This thread is worn over the left shoulder and under the right arm.
