Today, in my Thanksgiving edition, I’m going to discuss the idea of effective altruism, EA for short, a philosophy of giving that's gained traction in the past decade or so, especially with the tech elites. But, there are some concerns and criticisms about this method of charity that we’ll get into in this video.

We will consider questions such as:

What is effective altruism?
How does it differ from traditional charity?
What are some of the key philosophical ideas behind effective altruism?
What is the "Each-We Dilemma"?
Does true impartiality neglect the importance of personal relationships and community-based giving?
Is it justifiable to prioritize the well-being of future generations over the needs of those currently suffering?
How can the EA movement encourage a more robust and reasoned approach to decision-making while acknowledging the influence of personal values?
Do critiques of EA fundamentally undermine the movement's goals or suggest areas for improvement and nuanced understanding?
