Lukla Airport (Tenzing-Hillary Airport) is a small but famous airport in Nepal, located in the Solukhumbu district. It is the gateway to Mount Everest and the Everest Base Camp trek. Lukla is situated at an altitude of 2,845 meters above sea level. Lukla Airport is considered one of the World’s Most Dangerous Airports. Mainly small planes (Twin Otters and Dornier) only can operate in this airport. In this video, we can see the small aircraft takeoff and landing at Lukla Airport.

Lukla Airport's runway is short and sloped. It is just 527 meters long. One end of the runway has a mountain wall, and the other end has a steep drop-off into a valley. Pilots must land perfectly on the first attempt - No go-around option.

Lukla Airport has unpredictable Weather, sudden fog, wind, and rain make flying risky. Flights often get delayed or cancelled.
