Actor Geoffrey Scott has passed away at 79 years of age

The acting world is in mourning, with news that beloved performer Geoffrey Scott has passed away at 79 years of age.The actor's wife, Cheri Catherine Scott, confirmed her husband passed away at their home in Broomfield, Colorado on February 23 to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott was best known for his roles in Dynasty and Dark Shadows, along with appearing in more than 100 commercials throughout his career. Scott was born in Los Angeles in February 1942, with his father Reed working as a manager at Lockheed, manufacturing planes, with his mother Jayne a housewife.He was entrenched in the performing arts lifestyle from a young age, with Geoffrey and his brother Don, now a lawyer at Universal Studios, raised in the San Fernando Valley, on the same street as John Wayne and Clark Gable. Geoffrey would reportedly jump into Gable's pool, uninvited, quite frequently while he was growing up. He started performing in the 1960s and signed with talent agent Dick Clayton, who repped icons like Burt Reynolds, James Dean and Jane Fonda.Scott ultimately landed a talent deal at Universal Pictures and landed the role of Sky Rumson on the hit series Dark Shadows in 1970.He would go on to star in Cannon, Adam-12, Kojak, Barnaby Jones, The Secret Empire, Dallas and Rambling Man before his breakthrough role in Dynasty. Scott played tennis pro Mark Jennings, the first husband of Lynda Evans' character Krystle Carrington, starting in the third season.He would go on to star in 1st and 10 and Sidney Lumet's 1986 feature film The Morning After.His wife Cheri admitted that Scott was frequently competing with Tom Selleck for the same roles.  Scott stopped acting in the mid-90s, and made a brief return as the President of the United States in 2003's Hulk.He retired from acting after 45 years and moved his family to Colorado to pursue his passion for skiing.He's survived by his wife Cheri and their twin sons, Christopher and Matthew.
