Budget Lavaliers Compared

In this video, I run through some of the more widely used lavaliers and compare how they sound. The cost of the lavalier isn't always necessarily the best for sound. That's what makes it difficult to choose a good lavalier microphone. Really, your only option is to simply use your ears and do some listening on YouTube.

The other thing to bear in mind is that lavaliers sound different when clipped onto you compared to planted. I find lavaliers really useful to plant in scene very often so that they are in open space. That way, they sound at their best in my opinion.

Wearing the mic on you is convenient and does get the capsule really close though which is something that dramatically improves the sound of every microphone. Really close and in open air is the best place in most instances, so in this video I show them both worn and away from the body. Some lavaliers change more dramatically than others though.
