Ok, so the title is a little bit of an exaggeration since LLaMa isn't a web service or an API, so it isn't really competing with ChatGPT, but it gives you GPT-3 level performance, and you can run it locally! How did this come to be in such a short period of time, and what does it mean for the future of AI tech this year? I discuss that and more in this week's edition of AI wars. All it took was some clever C++ code and good old human intervention, and a ChatGPT alternative was created that requires very little computing power; it can even be run on a Raspberry Pi!
